Mike HvizdoWeston Basketball Coach Fired, Rehired

There is a great story down the road from me in Weston, Conn., where the high school basketball coach was fired for appearing in what has been described as a raunchy film 10 years ago, while the coach was an actor.  The coach, Mike Hvizdo, was subsequently rehired after a groundswell of public support and he had led his team into the CIAC Class M championship.  Ned Griffen of Max Preps has the story.

Jeff Jacobs on the End of the Big East

Jeff Jacobs of the Hartford Court has written an excellent article on the end of the Big East ConferenceJacobs writes:

Getting the ACC tournament into New York and getting UConn into the ACC seems to make so much sense. Then again, this is college sports in 2013 and nothing makes sense.

“The whole thing is tragic,” said Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin, when asked about the demise of the league and the end of the real Big East tournament in New York. “Nobody cares about student-athletes. All anybody cares about is money.

“The whole thing is hypocrisy.”

Harvard Sports Law Symposium Schedule for March 28

The 2013 Harvard Sports Law Symposium will be held on March 28, 2013 and will focus on “The Evolution of the Fan.”  The details and schedule for the symposium are posted over at the Sports Law Blog I have attended the last two symposia at Harvard and they were outstanding.
