Mom Hires Lawyer After National Signing Day Debacle
In strange twist, the mother of Arkansas recruit Alex Collins has hired a lawyer after she refused to sign his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play football at Arkansas (for student-athletes under 21, a parent or guardian must sign). Warren Zola has a good piece on the Sports Law Blog about modifying the coaching changes provision of the NLI, which binds a student-athlete to the terms of the NLI even if the coach leaves the school (based upon the unrealistic notion that a student-athletes chooses a school, not a coach). Marc Isenberg has a great piece, entitled “The National Letter of Intent Sucks” on his Money Players Blog.
