The Hartford Courant has done a great job compiling stories of Olympic athletes with connections to Connecticut.  Today the Courant is reporting that Glastonbury’s Donn Cabral qualified for the Olympic 3,000-meter steeplechase final.  Best of luck to Donn!

Missy Franklin Passes up Endorsement Deals

U.S. Olympic swimmer and gold medalist Missy Franklin will pass up significant endorsement dollars to retain her amateur status.  John Clarke has the story on Forbes.com.  Prominent sports agent Evan Morgenstein believes that Franklin’s decision makes sense and that the money will be waiting for Franklin in the coming years,

Olympic Badminton Controversy

John Mehaffy of Reuters writes that the eight badminton players who deliberately lost matches in hopes of a more favorable draw did not violate the rules of the sport, but rather violated the spirit of the sport.  Although most agree that the players were in the wrong, the format of the tournament has also been criticized.
