Danbury Whaler Nick Niedert Called Up to Bridegport Soundtigers

Nick Niedert, goaltender for the Federal Hockey League’s Danbury Whalers, has been called up to play for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.  Richard Gregory of GreenwichTime.com has the story.  According to Gregory, Niedert is the 10th Whalers player to be called up to a higher level, the most in the Federal Hockey League.  Congratulations to Nick.

David Stern and  the Chris Paul Trade

Prior to the trade of Chris Paul from the NBA-owned New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers, Gabe Feldman posted an excellent piece, entitled “The Misadventures of David Stern,” on Grantland.com.  Feldman looks at the Commissioner’s decision to veto the proposed trade of Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers both in his role as Commissioner and owner of the Hornets.
