Bobby Valentine Introduced as Red Sox Manager

Stamford’s Bobby Valentine was named the 45th manager of the Boston Red Sox.  Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe has a great article on Valentine and his connection to his hometown.

Putting a Face on the NCAA Concussion Class Action Lawsuit

George Vecsey of the New York Times has an excellent piece on Derek Owens, a former football player at Central Arkansas who is one of four plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit against the NCAA concerning brain injuries in college sports.  Reading this article leaves the impression that this case is as much of a referendum on the safety of football as a case about the NCAA’s alleged negligence in connection with concussions.

NBA Lockout is Over

Grantland.com’s Charles Pierce has an interesting piece on the NBA Lockout and the motivations behind it.  The NBA is set to return on Christmas Day with a triple-header.
