Bubba Smith, accomplished football player and well-known actor, passed away this week at the age of 66.
While many of my generation remember Smith from his role as Sgt. Hightower in the Police Academy movies, his exploits as a defensive end at Michigan State were legendary. In addition, Smith was known as a pioneer in college football.
Smith was the 1st overall pick of the Baltimore Colts in 1967 and played 10 seasons in the NFL. Smith is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
