Congratulations to former UConn Husky Kemba Walker, who was drafted 9th overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA Draft last night.  Mike Anthony of the Hartford Courant has a great story on Walker:

The tears rolling down Kemba Walker’s cheeks spoke to his appreciation for the journey behind and the opportunity ahead. He sacrificed — years of sweat. He’ll now reap the rewards — tears of joy.

Walker, the unflappable star who led UConn’s inspiring run to the national championship, was overcome with emotion Thursday night at the Prudential Center when the Charlotte Bobcats selected him with the ninth pick in the NBA draft.

Baseball Player Sues Mississippi State and it Head Coach

Forrest Moore, a former Mississippi State baseball player filed a lawsuit in Mississippi state court against the school, its head baseball coach John Cohen, and assistant athletic director Mike Nemeth alleging breach of contract in connection with the school’s decision not to renew Moore’s contract after he had been injured.  Nathaniel Grow of the Sports Law Blog has posted a great summary of the case.

Collegiate Licensing Company Receives Cease and Desist Letter

The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) received a cease and desist letter from a Washington, D.C. attorney demanding that the CLC refrain from limiting the suppliers to licensed apparel.  Christian Dennie of the College Sports Law Blog has the story.
