The Colonial Column: Colonials Welcome Nighthawks

By Dan Canavan

After dropping their last two contests, the UFL’s Hartford Colonials will be looking for revenge against the Omaha Nighthawks this weekend at Rentschler Field.  The Nighthawks handed the Colonials their first loss of the season with a dramatic come from behind victory in Omaha on September 24th.  While Hartford was in control for most of the game, the Colonials defense surrendered 17 points in the final quarter.

The Colonials will be looking the settle the score Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.  Colonials fans will be looking for a repeat performance from Quarterback Josh McCown, who completed 22 of 25 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns against Omaha.  Hartford will also need to step up their running game, which was lacking against the Nighthawks.  The Colonials were held to 71 yards on 28 attempts.  Look for Head Coach Chris Palmer to continue to mix in running back Trent Jones with Lorenzo Booker and Andre Dixon this weekend.

“I expect it to be a great game” offered Colonials cornerback Manny Collins this week in anticipation for the upcoming rematch. “This is going to be a physical match-up, going play for play.”  If you can’t make it to the game to watch Collins and his teammates, NESN will carry the rematch live with play-by-play duties handled by Brett Haber and Scott Zolak providing color commentary.
