One Step Closer: UConn, Tennessee Agree to 2-Game Football Series

Credit UConn AD Jeff Hathaway and Head Coach Randy Edsall for backing their talk of creating a big-time football program with action.  After agreeing to play Notre Dame, UConn has agreed to play a 2-game series against the University of Tennessee in 2015 and 2016.  Unlike Notre Dame, Tennessee will actually play UConn at Rentschler Field on September 26, 2015.

The deal with Tennessee has raised questions about whether the second, 6-game series with Notre Dame between 2011 and 2017 will actually come to fruition.  Apparently, the deal has yet to be signed and the dates are still characterized as tentative.  UConn and Notre Dame have a separate deal for a single game to be played November 21, 2009 in South Bend.
