bigeastCatholic 7 Looks to Keep Big East Name

Paul Doyle of the Hartford Courant reports that negotiations are underway between the seven departing Catholic schools and the Big East Conference over the Big East name.  Doyle reports that talks are moving quickly and a resolution may be reached as soon as today.

Free Global Business of Sports Class Offered

The Sports Agent Blog reports that Kenneth L. Shropshire, the David W. Hauck Professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Faculty Director of its Wharton Sports Business Initiative, will teach an online course entitled “The Global Business of Sports.”  Best of all, the class is free and open to anyone who is interested in enrolling.

The Marlins Ballpark and Public Subsidies

Marc Edelman, contributor at Forbes.com, writes about whether the Miami Marlins ballpark, built with public subsidies and plagued by poor attendance, will cause municipalities to rethink using public money on stadiums for professional sports franchises.
