The United Football League (UFL) continues its innovative efforts to bring fans closer to the game in the wake of the successful “Your Town, Your Team, Your Name” contest.
First, the UFL is holding open tryouts for the Hartford Colonials at Berlin High School and Sage Park on Saturday. Click here for details on tryouts.
Second, the UFL will consider the support of the local fan base in determining the location of the 2010 Championship game, to be played during Thanksgiving week. Commissioner Hugyhue writes:
Several factors will determine the site for the 2010 UFL Championship Game, including each team’s record and local support – a combination of attendance, fan club membership, social media interaction and atmosphere in the home stadium. We will decide which of our five current cities will host the Championship Game following Week 4 of the regular season.
Given Hartford’s strong support of the UFL and Colonials and a perfect venue in Rentschler Field, it would appear that Hartford has a legitimate opportunity to host the UFL Championship Game.
