UConn Football’s Success Brings More Agents to Connecticut

rosenhaus-coverAre you still unconvinced that UConn has become a player in Division I football?  Last month the Huskies saw 4 players chosen in the first 2 rounds of the NFL Draft – more than every college football program with the exception of USC.

After speaking with a few agents at the Sports Lawyers Conference last week about the UConn’s role in the NFL Draft, I gathered that UConn’s ascension was duly noted by NFL player representatives.  To verify these observations, I visited the State’s Department of Consumer Protection website and counted 13 agents who registered since September 2008 (although some could be renewals).

Perhaps the most significant sign that UConn has gained national recognition is that super-agent Drew Rosenhaus has registered in Connecticut.  Rosenhaus represents former UConn defensive back Darius Butler, who was chosen by the Patriots in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft.
