Two UConn Players Drafted, Two Signed as Rookie Free Agents
- Cornerback Tyvon Branch was selected with the 1st pick of the 4th round (100th overall) by the Oakland Raiders; of note, Branch graduated from UConn in only 3 1/2 years
- Offensive Guard Donald Thomas, a West Haven native, was selected with the 29th pick of the 6th round (195th overall) by the Miami Dolphins; the Dolphins’ staff includes many with connections to New Haven, including new head coach Tony Sparano, tight ends coach George DeLeone, defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni and offensive line coach Mike Maser
- Linebacker Danny Lansanah was signed by the Green Bay Packers as a free agent
- Defensive Tackle Dan Davis was signed by the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent

Greenwich Golden Domer, Another West Haven Native Chosen
- Notre Dame center John Sullivan, from Greenwich, was chosen with the 21st pick of the sixth round (187th overall); Sullivan is the first player from Greenwich High player to be drafted since quarterback Steve Young in 1984
- Kansas State defensive end Rob Jackson of West Haven was chosen with the 35th pick of the 7th round (242nd overall)
Army’s Campbell Drafted by Lions, May Avoid Iraq
- Caleb Campell, a safety from Army, was drafted by the Detriot Lions in the 7th round (218th overall). Campell may be the first Army player to benefit from a new policy allowing cadets with extraordinary talents to serve as recruiters rather than officers in combat.
